Maybe it was a sign of being chosen as the narrator in the school play each year, I was destined to become a Celebrant. Public speaking doesn’t seem to faze me, although, present me with a mathematical or technical problem and you’d be met with a blank face.
I journeyed through an upbringing in the north east, starting life in the small village of Rowlands Gill, West of Gateshead. I embarked upon further education spent learning the craft of advertising in London and in the years that followed, spent many years working for a national airline.
The pull to return to my roots remained strong and so I have been settled for some years now on the outskirts of Blaydon, Gateshead, with my family. There, you will find me working in my office (a makeshift loft conversion), drinking too much coffee and taking inspiration from books, radio programmes, podcasts and journals, past and present. With a great passion for English language, the arts and an ear for all kinds of music, I’m something of a creative soul at heart. I appreciate a job done well.
